SSO April 2018 - "Revolutionary Beauty"
This concert was performed by the Springfield Symphony Orchestra in Springfield, MO on Saturday, April 21, 2018. The performance took place at 7:30 p.m. at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. This recording is courtesy of Mediacom.
There are some musical compositions that are so exquisitely sublime that they transfix and transform the listener with their arresting beauty. We joined forces with the choirs of Drury, Evangel, and Missouri State to perform some of the most beautiful pieces for choir and orchestra, including Brahm's haunting Nänie, Verdi's beloved Va Pensiero, and the utterly gorgeous Humming Chorus from Madame Butterfly. This night of beauty wouldn't have been complete without performing Tchaikovsky's lush and dramatic Sleeping Beauty Suite. This performance is a concert of music that will leave you breathless with its beauty.
