Springfield Symphony gets soulful with its Sentimental Sarabande concert

The Springfield Symphony continues its “Dance Mix” season at its classical concert Sentimental Sarabande on Saturday, January 15th at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature romantic and intimate dances, including Gabriella Lena Frank’s flirtatious Coqueteos from Leyendas and William Grant Still’s transcendent and enchanting Summerland. The Springfield Symphony’s wind section will get a chance in the spotlight with Dvořák’s Serenade for Winds, and the string section is featured in Benjamin Britten’s playful Simple Symphony. This performance will take place at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.

“I'm very excited about this program, because it's a little bit different than most of our concerts,” said Music Director and Conductor Kyle Wiley Pickett. “This concert will shine a rare spotlight on our outstanding woodwind section with Dvořák's Serenade for Winds. On the other half of the concert, we will be featuring the string section in three charming, beautiful, and exciting pieces.  It will be a great way to kick off the new year.”

Single Tickets are $10 - $45 with discounts available for students and seniors. Single Tickets will be available at the Hammons Hall box office by calling (417) 836-7678 or visiting www.hammonshall.com.
