Composer Conversations with Stefan Freund - CANCELLED
Due to the escalation of the coronavirus outbreak in our community and across the nation; the SSO Board, Executive Director, and Music Director along with a task force have taken the position that we must be proactive, follow the recommendations given, and protect the health of our patrons, musicians, and staff. Therefore, we are cancelling the March 28th concert and concert-related events. We are exploring rescheduling The Civil War in Missouri at a later time.

The Springfield Symphony Orchestra is hosting Composer Conversations with Stefan Freund with the Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. at The Library Center. Composer Stefan Freund will be providing a talk over the Springfield Symphony’s concert The Civil War In Missouri on Saturday, March 28th. The concert will feature Freund's work The War Amongst Families and Neighbors: The Civil War in Missouri, a work for orchestra, chorus, and soloists that includes Civil War-era songs, as well as letters, editorials, and battle reports. Freund will give a 45-minute lecture over his composing process and the research behind creating it, while presenting the musical movements “The Battle of Wilson’s Creek” and “The Death of Lyon”.
