Hammonds Hall for the Performing Arts
How much do tickets cost?

The average individual ticket is around $35-$75. You can save by purchasing season tickets or special packages offered throughout the season.

Is there a ticket limit?

There is no limit! We encourage you to share the experience with others. For groups
over ten, group ticket pricing is available through Hammons Hall Box Office at
(417) 836-8468. Excludes free community concerts.

How do I purchase tickets?

Tickets are only valid when purchased through Hammons Hall Box Office, on our website, or by phone (417) 836-7678.

How do I get my tickets once they’re purchased?

Tickets can be mailed, picked up at the box office, or emailed to you from Hammons Hall.

Can I exchange or refund my tickets?

Tickets are non-refundable but available for exchange though the Hammons Hall Box
Office for the subscription season concerts. Paper copy tickets will need to be
exchanged in person.

Can I get tickets on the day of the concert?

Online tickets are available up until 1 hour before the show. Any remaining tickets are
available for walk up at the Hammons Hall Box Office.

What do I do if I lose my ticket?

No worries! The box office can reprint your tickets.

What do I do if my tickets haven’t come in the mail?

Please notify the Box Office at (417) 836-7678.

What happens if a concert is canceled?

Hammons Hall Box Office will notify patrons via email and the SSO will post online on our website and social media.

How do I contact the Box Office?

Call the Box Office at (417) 836-7678 or visit them at Hammons Hall on Missouri
State University’s campus.

Where/how do I redeem vouchers?

Vouchers must be redeemed in person at the Hammons Hall Box Office. We
recommend doing so as early as possible. Vouchers can be exchanged for a ticket
but seating is not guaranteed.

Do you charge service fees or seat taxes?

There is a $3 Hammons Hall fee per ticket and a $4 handling charge per order. Other taxes and fees may apply, please contact the Hammons Hall Box Office at (417) 836-7678.

Can I bring my kids?

Our Family Series concerts are perfect for kids of all ages! There is no age limit for our concerts, and it is ultimately the parent’s discretion. Please keep in mind that the subscription season concerts tend to last several hours and if a child is disturbing other patrons, you may be asked to step outside.

What should I wear to the symphony?

While there is no dress code, most patrons dress formal or semi-formal for a symphony performance out of respect for the occasion. However, it is not required.

Can I wear a costume to the concert?

Patrons can dress in a costume when appropriate. We encourage costumes for our annual Spooky Symphony, and some patrons dress up according to the concert theme.

What is the difference between a pops and a classical concert?

Classical concerts focus on traditional classical repertoire and a formal atmosphere, whereas Pops concerts aim to entertain a broader audience with a diverse range of music in a more relaxed and engaging setting.

How early should I arrive?

Hammons Hall Box Office opens, and seating begins one hour prior to the performance’s start time. You can visit informational tables, listen to pre-concert music, and our photo banner before you enter the hall. Pre-concert talks may be available; please check out our website for dates and times.

What if I’m late for the concert?

If you arrive late, the ushers will hold seating until a suitable break during the performance. Ushers will be able to guide you to your seat with minimal disruption.

How long is a typical concert?

Season concerts can last between 1.5-2.5 hours depending on the performance. Community concerts are 45-60 minutes in length.

Can I bring food or drinks into the concert?

Outside food and drinks are not allowed in Hammons Hall. Concessions are available in the lobby.

What payment types do concessions accept?

Cash and card is accepted.

Where is the concert?

All of Springfield Symphony’s subscription concerts take place in Juanita K.

Where can I park for the concerts at Hammons Hall?

Free parking is available in several Missouri State University lots adjacent to the
venue.

Do I have to pay for parking?

Parking is free for all symphony concerts held at Hammons Hall.

Is there dining near Hammons Hall?

The concert hall is located less than a half mile from both Downtown and Cherry St.
& Pickwick, these are two areas with great food and drink options. There are also
several restaurants along Walnut Street.

Mobility Accessibility

There are accessibility entrances on the North and South side of Hammons Hall.
ADA seating is available for all concerts.

Handicap Parking

Limited accessible parking and passenger drop-off/pick-up zones are located on the
south and north entrances of the facility, off of Cherry Street and Elm Street
respectively. Hammons Hall usher staff are available to assist patrons into the
facility from these zones beginning one hour prior to most performances. Additional
accessible parking is located in the parking garage located directly west of the facility.

Hammons Hall has a limited number of courtesy wheelchairs available for patrons.

Listening Devices

Listening devices can be picked up at the Hammons Hall table located in the lobby.

Allergens

Since Hammons Hall is open to the public, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free space.

When should I clap?

The orchestra will not always take applause between every piece, so it is important to
know when to applaud. The conductor will indicate the time for applause by completely
lowering their hands and stepping down from the podium. Applause may also be
indicated in the program.

What is the photo/video policy?

Taking photos or recording during a live performance is not allowed, as it can be
disruptive and violates music licensing rights. It is essential to respect the performers
and the audience. If you are found violating this policy, you may be asked to leave the
performance.

What’s the cellphone policy?

Please silence or turn off any electronics during the performances.

Is there an intermission?

There is a 20 minute intermission during most concerts.

Where do I go for Intermezzo?

Intermezzo is a special invitation-only VIP reception in Fuldner Lounge on the
Southwest side of the mezzanine level.

What is Seniors at the Symphony?

Residents of retirement communities and assisted living facilities to the theatre. With discounted tickets and full transportation, seniors can now enjoy live music
at a packed concert hall with the energy of an excited crowd!

Symphony on the Move offers our community the opportunity to share the joy of
live music in the comfort of a space they find familiar and accessible. We bring the

What is the Young People’s Concert (YPC)?

YPC brings together fourth-grade students from Springfield Public Schools, 50
area school districts, and students from rural, private, parochial, and home schools
to listen to live symphonic music and to gain valuable exposure to the elements of
musical styles and eras.

What is the Musgrave Community Balcony?

Complimentary tickets for music students and the underserved in the community
are available in the Petite Balcony of Hammons Hall thanks the to support of the

What is Swing for the Symphony?

Swing for the Symphony is an annual golf tournament that raises funds to help
support the Symphony.

What is Spooky Symphony?

Spooky Symphony is part of our Family Concert Series. Patrons dress up and enjoy
a one-hour performance of your favorite Halloween tunes, favorite movie and TV
soundtracks. This concert is free, and ticket requests open online one month prior.

What is Holidays with the Symphony?

Holidays with the Symphony is part of our Family Concert Series. Get in the holiday
spirit with season favorites and carol sing-a-longs. This concert is free and tickets
requests open online one month prior.

What is the SSO Gala?

The Gala is one of the biggest fundraisers benefiting the Symphony. Enjoy an
evening of dinner, dancing, auctions, and more! Check our website for the next date.

What does it mean to be a season ticket holder?

When you become a season ticket holder, you get reserved seating for each
season concert and additional special perks. You can purchase full, classical, or
pops series season tickets.

What is Notables?

The Notables is an exclusive under-50 group that supports the symphony through
pre-concert socials and flexible ticket packages.

What is Intermezzo?

Intermezzo is a special invitation-only VIP reception in Fuldner Lounge for donors
over $5,000, sponsors, and members of the Board of Directors or Trustees.

What is Behind the Baton?

Before classical concerts, SSO holds a special meet and greet with the conductor and
any guest artists. To learn more, visit our Behind the Baton page.

What is Afterglow?

Afterglow is a VIP reception following the concerts. To be invited, you must be a
season ticket holder, a sponsor, or donate over $2,500.

What are student rush tickets?

Student rush tickets are available for $15 one hour before the concert at the door for
any college student with a valid college ID. Box Office fees may apply.

How do I become a sponsor?

What do symphony volunteers do?
