Come fall in love with the Symphony this Valentine’s season as we feature one of the two Gold Medalists of the 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, the most prestigious piano competition in the world. Gold medalist Haochen Zhang, of China, gave his debut recital at the Shanghai Music Hall at age 5 performing Bach, Mozart, and Haydn; Zhang was also the youngest participant in the 2009 Cliburn competition. In keeping with the Valentine’s theme, the Symphony will perform Wagner’s Act III prelude to Tristan and Isolde and Manuel de Falla’s fiery and sonorous Spanish ballet El Amor Brujo which will feature luminous local Mezzo Soprano Leah Hamilton Jenkins. Our lineup this Valentine’s season promises to bewitch and inspire with music that will make hearts soar!Haochen Zhang 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Gold Medalist

Program Addition: Rachmaninoff No. 2, performed by guest Pianist Haochen Zhang.
